It's Begun.

The calendar says it's fall, so it's okay to pull out autumn decor. I broke my cardinal rule of, "No artificial flowers" and bought a boat load of them at Micheals and the Dollar Tree. The green flowers in this arrangement are hops...pretty appropriate, I think.
My house is driving me crazy right now because 1) its not my house. 2) I want to paint the walls and the kitchen cabinets 3) I have a queen size very expensive organic mattress* sitting in my entry, and I don't know what to do with it 4) because we haven't a garage, there are projects and thrift store finds sitting all around the house. Poor Megan has lost her living room to my crap treasures. 5) I need a new bed. My King sized bed has succumbed to years of me allowing kids to jump up and down on it. I realize it is the cause of most of my insomnia.

Welcome to my entry hall.

the mattress, a vintage sewing machine waiting to converted to a wine bar, and a brass and glass table from Brewier's office, holding some fall decor. Lovely.

* I purchased the mattress online, then 12 hours later tried to cancel the order so I could do more research. I phoned, emailed, live chatted, and FB messaged the company, and they didn't get back to me until the following week. When I spoke to the manager, he told me I couldn't cancel, hadn't I read their policy? I tried talking to him but things got heated, he got angry and rude, and kept repeating, "Did you read our policy?" Brewier called and left a message for the owner of the company, and pretty much got the same message. L-O-N-G story short, I have a mattress, that isn't as described on the website, and is useless to me. Never. Ever. Order from The Futon Shop in California.

oh dear - the dangers of havng an eye for repurposing things is the storage and work space to repurpose! yeah shopping online is hazardous - I seem to limit my shopping to about 4 major sites - probably miss out on lots of wonderful items but I also have wonderful return and customer service policies. Surely someone on ebay or Craigslist will get at least some of your money back for the mattress or - repaint an older futon frame and put a futon with lovely mattress in someone's bedroom?
Yeah I tried to stick with the no fake flowers things for decades - gave in so I could do mantelpiece decor with something fun and I'm a convert - I like the hoppy arrangement you made!

The best mattress you could ever have in my opinion is found here: I have had the Dormeuse mattress for 11 years and it’s still like new and was expensive but worth every penny. No chemical off gassing!
