The One Where I Talk About Fashion.

I've started posting photos of what I wear on *Instagram, mostly for my reference, and I started tagging them with #fashionover50. Then I added #stlyeover50, because I've never been a fashion follower. A couple of years ago I joined a fashion forum, and going by the administrators expert guidelines, purchased some current up to date pieces, and while they looked nice I didn't feel like myself, and was never happy when wearing them. It's very freeing to realize that you can clothe yourself however you like, and it doesn't have to be what everyone else is wearing. Along that line, I've been purchasing my jewelry from local artists. It's not massed produced, the quality is great, and it isn't any more expensive than a department store. This is the piece I bought Sunday; it's made from vintage silverware. This is a knife handle, and because it's hollow, the artist put a piece of a spoon handle inside and when I wear it I jingle. Oliver says I sound like a cat. I figured as I get older my family can use it as my wanderguard.

I thrifted this sweater almost 30 years ago, and it is a staple of my summer wardrobe. I noticed today that it is starting to fray and fall apart. I guess I got my $3 out of it.

I have Megan taking my photos, and she encourages me not to look awkward. HAHAHAHA...but that's my natural state! I better find some youtube videos to watch on how to pose.

*I now have three 1980's supermodels, who I idolized as a teenager, following my IG account. Mind blown.

like you - I feel freed by just wearing what appeals to my sense of style not what's fashionable. Like you apparently - enjoy asymetrical lines and capris. Woo hoo on your followers on IG
