Like I Promised.

A second post, this time about our weekend, though I almost started watching Fringe first but knew if I started watching it there would be no turning back to blog.
Saturday Brewiers nursing home had a Jamboree, with cloggers, music, BBQ, a car show, and a dunking booth.

Oliver watching the cloggers. I tried to get him to dance but he can be a bit shy.

Brewier was the dunkee for an hour and a half. Because the tank is so shallow, and he is 6 feet tall, he came home with multiple bruises. I tried to dunk him and ended up throwing the ball down the hill. Oliver was a better shot than me, hitting the target, but not with enough force to make Brewier fall we hit the target with our hand.

Sunday, (which was not a good day to sight see because nearly everything was closed,) despite being sore and bruised, Brewier thought it would be fun for the two of us to take a drive. We went south west to Sylva, Dillsboro, Franklin, then down into GA and Dillard, Sky Valley, then back to Highland, NC. Whew. When the girls were young, we would stay in a cabin with my mom nearly every fall, and those were the towns we would visit. It's also gem mining country, and Megan has been dying to pan for gems again, so we will be going back to this mine.

Jess and Meg, recognize these places?

Gorgeous views of the Nantahala National Forest.

Of course no trip is complete without a stop at a flea market or thrift store.

We came home exhausted. Isn't it funny how sitting in a car for a few six hours can wear you out?

We took the girls gem mining in NC when they were little. It was a lot of fun. I know Oliver will like it especially if he finds something.
