Trash!

Look what my neighbors had next to their garbage can along side the curb this morning! I saw it and headed out the door, forgetting in my excitement that I was wearing just a tshirt. I ran back inside, threw on some clothes and lugged this thing across the street, while my neighbor two doors down stopped his leaf blower to stand and watch me. The cabinet has a sticker on the back that says "Ernest and Julio Gallo Winery." The neighbor whose trash I pulled it from works for a liquor store so I imagine it was a display piece, but its pretty nice, all wood, no mdf. Now, to find someone to paint it espresso for me.....

Holy cow, I'm so jealous. I've never made a great street trash find before. I'm still keeping hope alive though...

Wow! That's impressive. People out here don't throw things like that away - EVER. There are all kinds of shops that sell "trash" for a lot of money! And just to be sure that people like me cannot find cool trash, there's a scary man who practically lives at the dump. (We don't have large trash cans near our houses out here for pickup... there's a small "dump" with large bins where people drive up and toss their stuff.) Even John won't go to the dump on his way to work in the wee hours of the morning unless he has to. The dump people (I'm beginning to think there's a secret society) are really out in the dark!

BTW, if I was there, I would so paint it for you...

Nice! Now you just need the wine to fill it up! I could paint it for you if you have the paint color you like. Did you ever repurpose your capris?

If your neighbors have trash like that, I'm living in the wrong neighborhood...

Wow! That would be seriously expensive if it was in Pottery Barn. I'm so envious you found such a great piece. I wish I had better neighbors...
